The railroad extends to the cities of Pan de Azúcar and Maldonado, yet Piriapolis can still be accessed from the station "La Sierra". Francisco Piria receives a cash prize awarded by the Ministry of Livestock and Agriculture for his forestal works. Arturo Piria (son of Francisco Piria) designs and builds his private residence today known as "Hotel Colón". Another son, Francisco "Pancho" Piria built "Villa Adelina", today vanished.
