On 24 December the Argentino Hotel was opened with great festivities and with the assistance of famous personalities of the time, highlighting the presence of the President of the Republic Baltasar Brum.

With a capacity of 1,200 guests and modern equipment imported from Europe, an extraordinary investment was needed of five million pesos of the time.

For many years it was considered the largest, luxurious and most comfortable hotel in Latin America, hosting Montevideo's aristocracy, as well as Argentia's and tourists around the world.
