The idea of the Cross of the Pan de Azúcar hill is born

The construction if a reinforced concrete cross of35 meters tall on the top of the Pan de Azúcar hill is proposed by the Jesuit priest Engelbert Vauters. It was designed by architect Guillermo Armas O ' Shanahan, while construction was in charge of the company Ísola and Armas.

The opening ceremony was led by the priest Juan Carlos Zorrilla de San Martin, son of the writer with the same name and the brother of sculptor José Luis.

It was blessed by Bishop Aragone in the Third National Eucharistic Congress, held on November 27, 1938 .
