Francisco Piria, entrepreneur, investor, skilled speculator and propagandist, begins in Montevideo a series auctions of land with small quotas, which will last for over 60 years, signing the expansion of Montevideo in the last decades of the nineteenth century and the firsts of the twentieth century.
